I'm tapping this out from NIE library level 3. It's been quite a while since I last came here to do work. Nothing much has changed except that it's relatively empty and quiet compared to the hullaballoo that usually ensues as the exam season kicks in. Someone told me that apparently we are into the holiday season now. At least according to the people who ran the carparks. This completes the perfect environment for doing lots of work or just relaxing in peace without worrying about what time you need to top up your parking coupons or if your Cashcard has enough money.

Although the canteen is 50% operational, there are still snacks and drinks available at Cafe Hotshot. I think I will really miss this place. I wonder how often I can come back for in-service courses. So currently I have gathered a pile of books that I want to read and I have about 2 hours on my hands to just relax... oh yeah!

I met Khim at Kino this morning to shop for more books as they are having a 20% discount sale for members. I am not a member but Khim is, so I can 'tompang' on her card. We managed to find a few good books especially some medal winners(complete with medals):

a) The Man Who Walked Between The Towers by Mordecai Gerstein
b) Sidewalk Circus by Paul Fleischman
c) Little Mouse's Book of Fears by Emily Gravett (hardcover)
d) The Wednesday Wars by Gary D. Schimdt (hardcover)
e) July 29, 1999 by David Wiesner
f) Willy The Wimp by Anthony Browne
g) Golem by David Wisniewski

On top of that, we stopped by Bookaburra to look for Tadpole's Promise for my 'cousin' but they were out of stock, so I placed an order. Along the way, I managed to pick up Nick Butterworth's The Whisperer for just $11.45!

In all I spent about a hundred dollars on books but I'm quite satisfied with my haul. I find that I am quite happy to spend hours searching bookshelves for bargains. I think if I ever lose interest in teaching, I can always join the NLB or the bookstores... =)
