Although I am sitting comfortably in my living room typing this out, I am in constant pain. That is because I overexerted myself in a hardcourt soccer game yesterday. Considering how I have not exercised regularly, it was not really a wise move to just dive into the game. It wasn't surprising that I felt really tired by the end of the game and it was only 9.40am!
By yesterday evening, I realised that I am no longer as young in body as I used to be. Now every step is a challenge, with me internally wincing as my body continues its silent protest against physical activity.
So it's a good time to blog. =)
After the game, I sat down outside the shower room to catch my breath. In the distance, I saw this old man who was out for a stroll in the neighbourhood. Well, he was trying his best to stroll with the help of a support stand, the kind you see used by people who have difficulty walking. I guess if I do not make it a point to exercise regularly, that old man could be me in 10 years!
I think most people recognise that exercise is beneficial. However, we often fail to create time in our lives for exercise, preferring instead to do other more enjoyable activities that are not as physically demanding. Like eating a slice of cheesecake. Yum.
I hope my resolve to exercise will not fade away as fast as my muscle aches. Now that would be a real regret.

I'm tapping this out at the QT branch of the NLB and I cannot remember if I mentioned on my blog that the DEAR programme by the NLB is on until the end of this month which means that al members can borrow up to 2 times their usual entitlement, i.e. if you are an ordinary member, you can borrow 8 books instead of 4 and Premium members can borrow 16 books! So do check it out if you haven't, it is really a good opportunity to load up on books during this period.
I just came back from CPS and it is a friendly place. I still miss my LPS students but I know that they will continue to work hard and do me proud when exam time comes around again. It is a new experience( just today alone, I think I met about 15 new colleagues!) and my new class is going to be quite interesting as well. My 'boss' says that the class is very obedient and cooperative but I will go in without any preconceptions. After all, who knows how they will respond to my style of teaching?
When I had just stepped into the library earlier, I was irritated by the noise made by these 2 boys who were just a few metres away. It was so bad that everyone in the library could hear their conversation. Something in me snapped and I stood up and walked over to ask them to lower their volume. I had to raise my voice to get their attention and they stopped. Some of the other kids who were studying nearby were also surprised by me. I think Singaporeans are so used to taking things lying down and not creating a fuss that it is quite novel to see someone taking action. I always find myself wondering where the parents are when I see children getting out of hand. Would the parents allow the kids to behave this way? Many people take the peace and quiet in the library for granted. I can only say this: we need to be pro-active when we see inconsiderate behaviour. If no one ever tells the boys that it is not acceptable to behave like hooligans in the library, they will continue to do so and make it extremely unpleasant for everyone else.
So don't take it and suffer in silence. Speak up!

I'm still feeling under the weather and my throat feels like I swallowed a sea urchin. It feels similar to that time last year when I fell terribly ill in the first half of 2007.
It is during times like these when you realise how important it is to stay healthy. After being cooped up in an LT and forced to listen to topics that have either been introduced before or are not relevant, I find that leaves a person with lots of time to think about a wide variety of issues.
To those who visited my blog recently, sorry if it has been a little bit static for a while. I didn't feel the urge to blog at all for the last two weeks. Perhaps as the school term is coming, there will be more things to talk about. I can hear all the students complaining.
I must say that I will be a little bit sad that I will be leaving NIE as I had a lot of fun during my lessons. Going to finish off with a picture to motivate myself:

OK, I know. Very lame, right? Well, I gotta run!
