This week has been stressful and also relaxed. Stressful in the sense that I have 2 rounds of lesson observations(that is when other teachers sit in on my lessons and comment) and relaxed in the sense that my P5s are away at camp on Thursday and Friday.
I went to visit them on Thursday and although the weather wasn't perfect(hot in the morning and heavy rains in the late afternoon), the students were really happy to be away from the stressful school environment. I think some of my colleagues were happy to be there as well. By the time I reached the campsite, my class had already tried the team bonding games (which I heard they didn't really enjoy). They tried kayaking in the afternoon until the weather turned bad. Most of the students were really happy when they had a chance to try the kayaks. I was sorry for those who didn't get a chance to try.
Looking at the kayaks reminded me of the experience at Pulau Ubin where we went kayaking around the island. Unbelievable! I'm thinking of sharing some pics we took with the class when they come back. I want to share some pics I took yesterday as well. Hmmm... perhaps I can turn it into a lesson?
I am really grateful to the teachers who gave me their comments about my lessons as I can really improve my teaching with some new perspective. I am not always right!
